chevy 5.3 motor in a 78 firebird

HI i wont to no if any one has put a 2004 chevy 5.3 L in a 1978 firebird ?
and if so what do i need besides a 5.3 and the wiring harness
And how hard whas it

www.fbody.com may have info, as will the various LS engine sites. Google is your friend.

Just a "FYI", a lot of guys run the Edelbrock p/n 7118. It is an MSD ignition controller that also comes w/a dual plane intake for the 5.3L intake for something like $650.

With the carb, MSD controller, headers and the stock cam, this deal will make over 320 HP, and about 350 ft/lb. With a cam, you will make more HP obviously. You'll need springs to go w/the cam.

chevy 5.3 engine swap in my 78 firebird

can any one help me find some info on puting a chevy 5.3 in my 78 firebird

like what i will need what i will have to make mods on ?

will the stock chevy wiring work ?


stuff like that is what i am looking for thanks

I hope you get some replies,5.3 in trucks are good motors Im been told. My towtruck has the 6.0 and thyer allmost the same,good luck.

Putting an LS in a 78 Firebird is EXACTLY the same as putting one in a second gen Camaro. That's been done many, many times. Search for articles and parts for that swap.

will a turbo 350 trany bolte up to a 2000 to 09 5.3 motors?
