Chevy 5.7 Vortec timing

I'm in the proccess of switching out my Chevy 5.0 Vortec (old and tired) for a fresh Chevy 5.7 Vortec. I can't seem to find any timing information for these engines. I know that the spark is computer controlled, but there is still a distributor that needs to be attended to. How do you set initial timing so the computer can find the mark? Thanks

bring you motor to tdc pull the distibuter there is a white PAINT mark just below the base of the distrbuter cap and on the bottom of the shaft a pre drilled hole, line the two up drop in the distributer in tight, once in the roter cap/button should be pointing between a #6 and #8 which if you look carfuly on the base were the distributer cap sit and screws too there are the two numbers 6 and 8 if its not it is out a of its 0 degree just make sure to line up the paint mark with that hole and drop it in the hole is not straight through it is just a dimple but remember that your cap sould be put on with the coil side a pasanger side if not your 180 out turn it a round hope this helps
