Hi,
this is from Hotrodders knowledge base.
Rich
I forgot something, a 200r4 would be a better choice, it's the
same length as the two speed you have now & you'll have OD

like already said the short answer is yes

but there are length issues

3" length issue

700r4 is the longer tail length same as th350 with truck and wagon 9" tailshaft

and i assume the powerglide you have is shorter 6"tail tranny length

so a 2004r will be the direct bolt in way to go unless you have no driveshaft at all currently

GM 2wd all have generally two different lengths other than ther th400 which is all alone by itself different lengths than all other gm tranny models other than the small 3 speed manuals such as the SM318 in which are evne shorter than the 6" tail, and 200 series 3 speed auto trannies, and 2004r of course

good luck

You will need to put a tape measure to this 2 speed trans in the 63 car... should be an aluminum power glide.

Early glides had different lengths than the common t-350 trans with 6 inch long tail housing.

The early glides also had a course spline yoke and output shaft. You would need a 27 spline yoke for the more modern trans.
