Chevy 8.2 Pinion Nut
I picked up a 10-bolt 3.08 rear end for my '72 El Camino, to replace the 3.55 that's killing me gas-wise in town.
Anyway, the yoke was off. When I went to install the pinion nut I noticed the threads on the pinion were slightly damaged and I can't get the nut on. It looks to be 7/8" by 16 pitch. Can anyone confirm that? I may need to use a die on the threads if I can't clean them up. |

Confirmed. 7/8" by 16...a special size compliments of GM.

Yes, I used a thread file yesterday and finally got it on.
