chevy alternator overcharging at higher rpm

I have a 85 chevy pickup that is over charging at 45 mph or over but does fine at idle I have changed voltage regulator,diode,and battery.I have a small amp but nothing else any ideas
thanks for any help

Are you certain it is overcharging? What is the alternator voltage at higher rpms? Overcharging would be indicated by a voltage of 14.5 (+/- depending on temperature) or greater.

it charges over 18 on the gage and about 17 out of the back of the alternator at about 2500 rpm it shuts my radio down when it reaches this high

how old is the alternator have you had the alternator tested? mabee thats your problem not all new parts are good
