Post chevy can run in drive

i have got a 350 bore 60 oven just rebuilted everything is perfect, but when i crank it runs of then when i put it in drive it just shut out.
its pumping fuel good, its time right, its got a
brand new holley carb on it, but it just keep shuting out.
if i want it ot run i will have to take the timing all the around then she will keep runing.
then when its time to crank it the timimg is so
advances that it sounds like i have a starter and a flywheel problem.

What is your base timing set at? it should set at 12 degree`s BTDC with about 36 to 38 degree`s total advance in by 3000 RPM`s. Also remove the rotor and check your mechanical advance and make sure it`s not stuck. also double check everything and make sure you don`t have a vacuum leak. What cam are you running? if it`s a high performance cam, depending on the size, you may have to tight a torque converter for it.
