Chevy Distributor

I have a stock Chevy distributor that I have put a Pertronix Point less control module in. So far I am not impressed with the product. I put a new one in 3 weeks ago an it has gone bad already. Can some one give me some suggestions on a good reliable after market distributor. I have limited space to the firewall so a small HEI would be needed. It's a 55 Bel Air.

When I was faced with the same problem..........worn out SBC distributor and very little room..I purchased a MSD distributor. It is HEI inside, with a vacuum advance and was the small size as the factory Chevrolet distributor.

My SBC 283 was in a 40 Ford coupe.....

Summit Racing had them.....about $250 .......complete ......and then I upgraded to a Blaster MSD coil.....about another $30........

Mileage improved, better starts and smoother running engine.......

Exchange the pertronix for one that works. Comes with warranty right?
I have heard they have quality control issues but I know a couple people running them in points style early dist. with no troubles.

I'd try the warranty thing, too. If that doesn't work, check out http://davessmallbodyheis.com/

Did you remove the ballast resistor from the ignition circuit as per instructions? You need 12 volts to the Petronix system as per all HEI types. I have been running one for years in my old Bronco and have one in my Bud's daughters"s 289 powered Stang. Of course Petronix may be falling on hard times when their parts are outsourced to 3rd world like all other companies.
