Chevy Engine ID

Looking for Info on V0809RAS engine code in particular--what is RAS code ?

motor may have been rebuild and the last three tell what it is if u look it up it should say hp car and year there are vin codes on net will help you under chevy block numbers and codes hope this helps

V=Plant 08= Month 09=Day RAS not sure at this point.


But you can get the # on the back of the block on the pad beside the distributor is and can tell you what engine is. JMO

No what I'm saying is it will tell you if it came in a camaro or pick up or monty and so on and what its hp was stuff like that bro take a look I have a 69 camaro and my block is a mo and it came back a 302 1968 small jurnell

Thanks for the REBUILD hint---it goes along with the block-off plate for the fuel pump. This enging is in a 94 PU injected and I bought it at auction. Original engine was a 305 but seeing the block-off plate raised my thoughts as to being a replacement. Now, I will try and get numbers off the back of block--but it is a VERY tight fit.

That engine might just have the fuel-pump block off plate due to the fact that it came out of a vehicle from the factory that had a built in fuel pump in the tank/ electric fuel pump. JMO
