chevy flywheel R&R

can a flywheel be removed and replaced without moving transmission on a 70 chevelle 350c.i.w/350 turbo. cant do to much right now, recently had rotator cuff surgery and can barely raise right arm above my shoulder let alone push or lift anything (at all) with that arm. any ideas???thanks.

There is no way to get the flywheel off without moving the tranny back. You have to remove the torque converter just to get the bolts off.
You could have somebody else do it for you, thats if you don't mind someone else working on your car for you.

If you can get the trans mounted securely on a jack, you may be able to move it far enough to the rear to get to the flexplate. If you try it, be sure you have something to keep the converter in the transmission, as it tends to want to slide forward, then fall on whichever of your body parts it can find.

Some people use long studs in place of two lower bell housing bolts..... slide the trans ( on a tranny jack) back a bit to get a wrench on the flywheel bolts.

My opinion is you are so close to full tranny removal , I take the trans down & out ....... just me
