Do you think Chevy is ever gonna build another "muscle"car to take the place of the Camaro?? Or are they just gonna let Ford own the market with the mustang?? I know Pontiac is coming out with the GTO, but its gonna be over $30k.

Well lets see, there is the cavalier z24, the impala ss, and the montecarlo ss. To bad they are all dumb fwd grocery getters without any balls

I wouldn't really consider the Cavalier z24, Impala SS or the Montecarlo SS really "muscle" cars. They need to make another comaro...I don't really like the one's they have now, I like the late 1960's modles.

Yeah the new ones were getting to look too much like space ships... in a way it is good that they quit while they were ahead

I wish they would make a stripped performance car. Big *** engine, some bolstered seats...no AC, no radio, no heater. Nohting but the bare essentials...and all sold for around $20k. I bet it wouldnt do to bad. Just look at all the buzz around the Dodge SRT-4. A little neon with 215hp for under $20k. To bad its 4 cylinders and FWD.

I have heard, That GM will probably will come back out with the Camaro in about 4 or 5 years. They will say the reason for this will be all the letters they got. But i think thay had planned this all along.
I do know they were losing money of the Camaro and Fire Bird Now if they do come back out with it, will it be a muscle car? That we'll have to wait and see. |

GM is so hidebound as a corporate entity, there will NEVER be another muscle car with a bowtie badge. Even the new vettes aren't worth a crap. There is no thrill in driving them, they are too refined and hi-tech. IMO, a muscle car should have enough power to weight that you always have a nagging feeling that if you push just a little too hard, you are in deep doo-doo. That nasty little feeling that: "man if this thing gets away from me"
There is nothing like the thrill of blasting into a decreasing radius turn, hoping you can slow it down enough to make it, and when you reach the point of making it, pouring the coals to it to get really rolling again. An absolute rush! |

well the mustangs may have more of an aftermarket, but then again how easy is it to actually work on a latemodel chevy??? compared to the chevies the engine bays in latemodel mustangs look spacious.

And it's NOT FWD. It's AWD. It runs the 1/4 in 13.9 seconds stock and 0-60 is in the 5 second range. Not bad for a 2.4 liter 4-banger. And it may only have 215hp, but it has 245tq... It also has the largest FMIC of any production car I've ever seen!! Huge potential in that little Neon. Dodge made a good decision in producing that thing. You can't beat the price, either. Too bad it's still a...ugh...Neon :p Peace, MK2TMR2 EDIT: Looks like I may be wrong about the AWD. I wanted to double-check myself and I can't find anything about it being AWD on-line :p [ February 26, 2003: Message edited by: MK2TMR2 ]</p> |
