Chevy help

Got a little problem. A kid working for me has a 97 chevy pickup with a 5.7 vortec and he forgot to check his antifreeze and he cracked his block, As usual he is short of cash and I want to help him out. I've got a 350 which came out of a early 90's chev which has the different bolt style for a tbi or vortec style intake and was wondering if this motor would work as a short block with his intake and electronics. I'm a old school chevy man and it looks like it would fit but not sure about the difference with a vortec. any help or directon in which way to go will be greatly appreciated.

Yes it would, taking his heads and intake, plus his timing cover, and damper.

His 97 is a Vortec and your early 90's is a swirl port. The difference is mostly the top end (Vortec heads and intake) needed to match his electronics and injection systems. Plus the plastic timing cover which holds a crank position sensor the Swirl port doesn't use and the Vortec damper which has the segments the crank position sensor is looking for.
