If I remember right, only two bolts and the dowels line up. I have a BOP th400 behind a sbc in my Jag. The Chevy th400 welded itself together and I had a built BOP 400 laying around. I welded two 3/8" thick aluminum tabs above the dowels and a plate between the ears up top. So I have five instead of six bolts. I haven't had any trouble so far. Adapters are less than $100 if you don't have a TIG or torch. If you have a bad Chevy trans you could swap the good internals into it also.

Speedway motors sells the adapter plate for $40 cheapest I've found so far, I was considering this swap myself. I had a 400 pontiac I was going to put behind my 350 til I realized how much hp they sucked.
