Chevy Pick-up Bed

I'm working on a 1951 Chevy, short bed, step side. I got the whole truck in pieces. I have finished all the paint & bodywork, and done the finish on the oak planks for the bed. I have all the parts to put the bed floor in. It's a "9 Board". My question is: Do I build the floor and then install the side and front panels around it? Or, do I build the box and then install the floor? If anyone has picture or diagrams, that would also be helpful. I'm assume that the right way to do this is to build the bed and the put it on the frame. Fenders go on after.

Thanks for your help, guys!

Chris

Wood bed floor rebuild

Classic Trucks has a how-to on wood beds here http://www.customclassictrucks.com/t...all/index.html
I have two old trucks a 53 Chevy and a 57 Chevy. Basically you will need to put the bed sides and front together first and then put the wood together inside the bed. It will need to sit on top of and connect to the cross pieces. Hope that helps some...

Thanks for your reply. I always need and appreciate all the help I can get. I'm up in Wisconsin right now and will be back in Albuquerque in a few days. I'll be putting the bed back together then. I may get back with you for more info. Thanks again.
