chevy pickup rear axle

We have a '91 Chevy 3500 stake body truck at work. It lost a rear wheel and damaged the axle housing end and the hub. We've been kicking around the idea of replacing the dually with a single wheel pick-up axle ( we don't carry a lot of weight and it's probably cheaper) Does anyone know what would fit as a bolt on
Thanks
Mike

check rear spring pack distance from each other as on the old body style the distance was different between 1 ton and 1/2-3/4 tons

used to be 42.5" distance on non- 1 tons

and 40" on 1 tons

but in 88 they seemed to have widened

plus on duallies it has to have packs closer to each other to clear the extra set of wheels

need a tape measure to answer your own Q on 88-up

there were also chassis cabs with SRW

not all chassis cabs were DRW

just liek there are DRW picups as well

you could get any configuration you wanted, when available

there were some interesting ones built and sold special order as well.

even some oddballs like dually burbs for fire/rescue service were built and sold

A 14 bolt is what you want. If it isn't 4x4 then you can get any gear you need. A good source for them is military surplus. you can usually get them with 4.56 gears and detroit locker for a song.

I''m guessing that if we got the axle from a junkyard we could get the spring hangers and springs too. I should have made myself clear before. We just want easy and cheap. Do all the trucks use the same spring hangers?
