Chevy S-10 frame strength/to a 350 cu.in.

I'm wondering:
I want to get a frame, drop in a 350 with automatic trans and add on an old truck cab. I would make a "short" truck bed out of poplar...kind of an old farm truck rat rod!!!!
If I got an 1989 - 1993 S-10, removed the body, cleaned the frame and then boxed the frame would it stand up to a 12 bolt positraction rearend?
Should I use the original steering or should a Mustang 2 steering be made to fit and work?
Thanks everyone....I'm wrapping up my 55 chevy and want a real challenge now!
Gordon

S-10 chassis

I've been thinking of the same thing. I found a site that gives lots of details. Here's the link:http://www.geocities.com/lakota_circ...p1.html?200610. My buddies have '48-51 Ford F1's and I want bo build one with the modern conveniences: discs, power steering, etc. This look ike an easy solution, and will surely take the power of a V8. Good luck!
