Chevy Small Block 400

i AM NEW TO HOTRODDING. i LIVE IN ARIZONA, RETIRED LIKE DRAG RACING I HAVE 68 NOVA WITH A 400 BLOCK 30 OVER TWO SPEED POWER GLIDE 1.76 GEAR 411 REAR END. 26 INCH 10,5 DRAG SLICKS. ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE STEAM HOLE ON 400 BLOCKS LIKE CRACKS IF SO CAN IT BE FIXED. ANY HELP. THANKS TO ALL

Steam hole cracks can be repaired. If they don't go to a cylinder. Most go to a head bolt hole. These are repaired by drilling and tapping the steam hole for an "Iron stitch" tapered plug. The plug is then thread sealed (Goodson white sealer), Installed tight in hole. After sealer is set, re-drill the steam hole just slightly smaller than the original. The remaining tapered plug threads seal off the crack and no more coolant creep up the studs.

I have done many 400's this way.
