flywheel on backwards

so it is possible to put the flywheel on backwards? my starter seems to be to short, the casting on the nosecone sits about halfway over it and the stater just hits it and spins . its on a 5.7 with a 700r4 153 tooth.

I have ran into almost every starter problem possible on my current project!
first. heat soak, so i did the ford solenoid! witch there is TWO ways of wiring!

It sounds like alot of your starter are staying engaged for an extra second causing the horrible noise because starter is still engaged.

heres the link how to fix it!

http://novaresource.org/starter.htm

Now my current problem is that the big old factory starter was still getting heat soak after a hard drive! so i got a proform mini starter. witch will not stay aligned, i am currently trying to find thicker bolts witch seem to be an odd size 4"... also considering making a new rear bracket but not sure how to bolt it to the starter...?

I would just buy a new ministarter,, but this is the only one i have found that fits my header clearance, and has the staggered bolt pattern!

any advise would be great thanks guys!

I recently rebuilt my 350 and put it all back together and when i did i bought a new starter. i bolted it up and it worked for a coulple days and then i warmed it up and it wouldnt start. it broke the housing of the first starter. so i went and got a new one. i tried shimming with both shims and one shim and one side of the shim and nothing will work it just makes a clunking noise and i cant seem to figure it out.....

168 tooth flexplate

I am in need of tech help. I am making a powered turn table and am going to use a 168 tooth 14" flexplate. What is the pitch of drive gear I would need,I need a gear that is taller than a starter gear. Thanks Ron

Bigdog, please don't chastise our members for doing what is expected of them. Take some time to read our guidelines: here

This seems to be a pattern of yours. You've been warned once by 68novass, the next infraction will be a suspension. Leave moderation to the...moderators. Leave the wiseguy remarks on the playground.

And to blasterboy, kudos for doing a search before starting a new thread. Now if we can get a mod to do a clean up here, this may turn into a very informative thread.

Thank you Dinger, I kinda feel folks can post what they want....as long as it's in the guidelines, don't understand why some folks feel their opinion is more important than someone else's.

Thanks

I have been laying back and I knew that all I wanted was good advice and got more than I bargained for. Thanks again to all. I have located a source for the drive gear and I bet I am not the only fellow that wanted to make this contraption .do a Google search for gears (one of co MSC) look up gear for a 14 in flex plate put in 12/14 pitch teeth on look-up makes a nice gear driven 12 volt motor turn table . W e are all hackers either automobiles or other junk. Thanks again. Ron

I don't see how his post has anything to do with the original topic, so i was saying he will get more answers if he makes his own thread so he can make his own title. This way people who are knowlagable in the subject he is asking about may be able to find his question and answer it.
