Chevy Vega Distribtor FLEW OFF

Hello...car was parked running then heard thump on firewall and car shut off..open hood and find all spark plug wires wraped around distribtor..clearly distribtor came out but why ?? hold down tab was tight as far as i know..car is a 140cu 2bbl auto ps pb ac 63,000 car sat for 2 years, Vega is in very good condition not junk orig from FLA. last 3 years in NJ garage..is this a Vega problem..or from sitting long or something BIGGER .... Thanks on any help.....

You mean to tell us that you have a Vega, with the original motor, that actually runs...............my GAWDDDD....call the Guinness people....thats a word record...

Anyways, the distributer probably slipped by the hold down, or the hold down wasn't on properly.

Found Problem>>.....

Probem was ...not hold down tab.that was very tight...the rotor inside locked ..was old...no grease...when that locked ..it in turn spun the distribtor....so bottom line is .a new distribtor is on the way....... Thanks.
