That was quite the "copy and paste" job. Don't think all the comments warranted being copied also. So, in a nut shell, introduced gases in a confined space exploded during the rigors of extreme battery testing.

How does this apply to the Volt? A123 didn't even win the bid for the Volt's batteries.

If I was to heat gasoline to the point of accelerated vapor release in a confined space and there was an ignition source, I'd be pulling splinters out of my back side too.
