Chop a top

Currently working on 1989 Ford Ranger.I would like to chop the top 2",need all the help I can get,would also like to see some pic's.Thanks L.Gallagher

good luck, chopping takes masterful metal work, See Street rodder magazine, plus whats your plan for glass afterward?

"afterward" is the of the biggest mistakes made doing a chop top, ask me how I know.

You chop the top, tack it in place. Then you cut the glass and make the top fit the glass! You can't modify the shape of the glass, you can however modify the shape of the metal. So you cut the glass, then make the top fit it.

The door and back glass by the way is tempered glass and can't be cut. So you need to make it new. Often the car is modified so flat glass will work (the original has a slight curve) and then you simply have a glass shop cut it out of flat safety plate (the glass with the plastic in between two sheets of glass).
