Post Chopped and channelled '40 Ford pickup...

My dad has a 1940 Ford pickup that had been sitting in the boneyard behind my boyhood home my whole life (26 years). I'm thinking of making it my project car, not only because he'd probably give it to me, but also because my grandpa actually used to drive the car as a rod back in the ol' days.

The problem is this: It's chopped at least 4 inches and channelled 6 inches. I'm 6'3" tall. I'm not in the same state as the car right now, so I haven't tried sitting in it since I was a wee lad. Will I be able to physically fit in this truck at 6'3"?

I can stop fantasizing about the damn thing if I have no chance of actually being able to fit in it.

Thanks,
EA

EA, its a valid question, but considering the size of these trucks with the right seat height you could fit fine. I'm 6'2 myself so I understand the question, but you should be able to fit fine with the right seat and height combination. Sounds like a cool project, even if you decide not to do it try and gets some pictures of it. I like to see true old customs.

Very cool, could be something special one day. The other ford also. If you do intend to persue this endeavor there are some tricks and basic mods you can do to it that would make it very cool and also save you the time of looking for parts. PM me with the ideas you would like to do to it and we'll see if I can stir up some other cool tricks for you.

There were many chopped and channeled pickups built during the early days of rodding. And a lot of them were piloted by tall men too!
You'll figure out the details when you have that blue boy in YOUR Garage! Remember what most first timers and lots of old timers don't, when you're building your car, build it to your specs of comfort (steering position, seating, pedal placement). You'll never regret it!
Have a great time!
