I would change to an RPM air gap
A tad less smaller cam maybe 5-7 degrees smaller
Go with a head with a smaller intake valve
Defenitely smaller runners, 220 is just way too big for the street but he races the engine.
The changes made would obviously bring the max hp down in the rpm range.
Otherwise, a very respectable 355 for the parts.
I DID think the cam was too big but it didn't seem too bad in the lower ranges especially with the victor jr. which was a surprise to me.
You nailed it with the oversized runners and too large of a cam. He's actaully loosing power because of it. The runners on a 350 should be spinning to 8k RPM with a solid roller cam with about 13:1 compression- its just too much.
Its one reason why AFR 195's work so well- smaller runner size gives you more velocity with still big flow numbers.- By going with ported Vortecs you can do a "poor man's" version.
