Umm, yeah...
It's a car show. The church has a big parking lot to hold a lot of cars. None of the money goes to the pastor...who drives a Ford Ranger.

Do you believe all car shows should be free?

If this is a fundraiser for the church I think it is a good idea. More fun than bake sales, pancake meals etc. and still doing good work.

Oh, our church doesn't prey on elderly, we pray and help the needy.

The question is....Pray or Prey?

I think a church car show is a cool, original idea....................and I am not religious.

No problem AKM. Last year, our church lost about $100 to have the car show and that doesn't include what we spent out of our personal pockets. No big deal though because a bunch of guys got together and talked cars all day.

Putting a car show on get's kind of expensive so the $8 per car helps defer those costs. We only have about 30 members in our church so we can just barely pay the bills as it is. If we could actually turn a little profit from the show then all the better.

Take care!

The TikTok reunion and the Heavenly Hotrod shows here in Portland, are both put on and funded by church groups.
The TikTok reunion is free and they provide free breakfast and lunch to the participants. It draws some of the best and they do well with donations.
The Heavenly Hotrods show is I think $10 and the trophys are hand made hotrod models, that fit the class, on hardwood plaques with trunks hoods and doors that actually open. If you want, they take a picture of your car when you're driving in and they will put it on a coffee cup for an extra $10. They do well with resonably priced consessions, raffles and donations. The People that put together and organize both these shows do a great job. There are a few more church shows I plan on going to this year as well.

Church car shows seem to be the new thing around here and that perfectly alright by me, and yes.. These churches DO get something out of the deal...

If a church puts it on, why not make something for it? Especially with only 30 members and a pastor who drives a Ford Ranger.
Ive no problem with small churches and go to one. I just get leary of those huge ones were the pastor drives a Beemer and wears tons of gold chains. Hg

Who says a preacher has to be poor? I don't much like show either but maybe he was born rich and is serving as pastor without charge. We have at least a couple around here like that. Then there is the one who drives an Escalade but it was given to him. Be careful before you judge, things are seldom as they seem.

I say your church should just take donations, probably get more that way anyhow,. or sell food. A local church has a small rod run, some local bluegrass/gospel music and then charge a few bucks for a catfish feed. Church of maybe 30 regulars brings in 100 or so people. Last year it rained hard and about 20 old cars still showed up.

Hereís an update:
All proceeds from the concession stand will go directly to the Columbus, OH Childrenís Hospital Leukemia Society. Nurses from Childrenís Hospital will be running the stand.

Also, the nursing students from Otterbein College will be having a bake sale during the show and all proceeds from the goodies will go directly towards their class graduation.

A couple Churches around Dayton, OH have car shows every year.

You want to talk huge Churches the one just south of Tipp City, OH has it's own school inside, book store, close circuit TV, coffee shop, it's 2 floors, and they even have their own motorcycle ministry.

You should see the outbuilding for teen activities.

And they hold a heck of car show every Father's Day.

I'll be going to the one in Beavercreek in late September. I think that's a fairly small show though.

I wasnt juding, but merely saying Im leary of bigger churches. Its hard to follow a preacher getting out of his 70,000 dollar car, wearing 5,000 dollar suits and wearing a rolex preaching about people being in need and wanting donations.
Everyone should pay there ties(did I spell that right) but they should go to things that matter, not expensive things for the preachers comforts. Hg
