hi,
i have a 1963 impala SS and the chrome SS emblems, chevy flags, and the console with the gears in it need repainted. I hand painted them once, but I decided they werent good enough, so im going to go and try it again. will lacquer thinner take the chrome off? if it will, any other good suggestions? i have used a dremel tool and got most of the paint out, but there is still some left. thanks. No conventional thinner or stripping will take chrome off. To get chrome off you need a course abrasive, media blasting or take it to a chromer and have it removed. As for the paint, it will come off with a chemical paint stripper.

With some very meticulous masking, you can spray those emblems with an airbrush and good catalyzed enamel. They'll last forever then- good luck!!
