I am refinishing a tailgate for a customer off a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 3/4 ton. He gave me a touch up rattle can the previous owner had from the dealer (it was branded Mopar). The paint code is ZDR. I did a little bit of research and the paint codes for that truck/year that match is PDR. The guy at the paint shop said that the DR is what matters. My first question is that a correct statement? I don't doubt it is but I just wanted to ask since I was posting.
The primary question I have is that I found a deciphering of the Body Code Plate from Geno's garage (Dodge pickup Body Tag Decoding
) and my primary question is regarding section 14 of the body code plate. Section 14 is the Paint Process. When I look at the description it just says "Open Space". What are the possible codes for the Paint Process? I'm assuming it would describe whether it was single, double, or even a tri coat paint job or maybe even the type of paint that was used. If anyone could help with what those possible Paint Processes would be I'd be grateful. I obviously want to duplicate the process of the original and not just assume it was BC/CC. Especially since the color is a metallic.
