Chrysler Flathead Drag Racer

I am new here on the forum and just wanna say hi to all the hot rodders out there. I started out driving my hotrod back in 1968. Dad built it in 1962 , but he built the motor in 1959. It was a 265 cubic inch Chrysler flathead with a close ratio 38 Dodge 3 speed tranny. In 1968 I had it running 14.50 and 91 mph in the 1/4 mile at National Trail Raceway. The motor was in a 53 Willys Aero body. I have been reading a lot on what the people are saying about the flathead mopars, and they really are not all that complicated. I will be putting together another "BIG" block Chrysler Flatty and this one will have some speed parts. Dad's motor was all homebuilt except the 3 carb adaptors from a 3 bolt "94" carb to a stock 2 bolt flange. Dad also used a reworked stock manifold for his 3-2's. Since the flatty days I have been racing the Max Wedges and the Hemis with the current project being a 68 Hemi Dart. By the way, The Chrysler Flathead powered Willys is still intact setting next to the Hemi Dart. I will keep you posted from time to time about the progress on the new Flatty build up. P.S. In true hemi super stock style, this flatty will have a Tork Flite and a high stall converter.

FtoH, what ever happened to that 265

FtoH, what ever happened to your 265 chyrsler flatty?...old or new version? Some of need to know- mines out of a '52 chrysler and sports an Ellis twin single carb manifold on it. I want the shock value of an old flathead 6 rather than the usual V8s out there{no offense V8 folks - I just gotta be different}.

. Welcome... guess I never thought about Chrysler engines before the Hemi V8's... except the flathead sixes... did Chrysler ever have a flatty V8? Couldn't believe Chrysler kept the flathead six going all the way up though 1959... then suddenly jumped into OHV Slant Sixes... even all aluminum ones...
