Which clay for measuring piston top valve reliefs?

I need to check my piston top valve relief clearance. I read about using plasticine (modeling clay). Someone else told me some clay will shrink. So my question is what is the good stuff called and where do I buy it?

The "good stuff" is called "Play Doh" avalible at any local toy store for a few bucks. Coat it or any other type of clay used with powder to prevent the stuff from sticking to the valves.

I've got tons of it in my yard. You're welcome to a few pounds if you want it.
