Clear Coat over Aluminum?

I just finished my center console. I brushed the aluminum and glued it to
the console. The sides need to be clear coated and I would like to do the
aluminum also. Anyone have experience clear coating aluminum?
Thanks

Here's two things you can try , you could see about getting the parts powder coated but that may be a little pricey . Or you could check into this ,
it's called X-I-M 900 clear coat you can pick this up a your local Sherwin Williams . It's made for clearing chrome , aluminum or just about anything and requires no thinning . Hope this helps.

Looks good from the picture. What method did you use to do the brushing?

I've powder coated clear on aluminum (using my Eastwood coating gun) and it turned out OK. But if you don't want to go to that expense you could also use any of the good spray on's for aluminum rims. Also ZoupsSeal is supposed to be good and I've even read of people using beeswax. Keep in mind most of these spray on products will probably need to be redone every couple of years to keep them looking really sharp.

I like the aircraft gauges, I see a compass, and not sure what else. What are the others and what are they from? Do you have a closer pic?

I have clear powder coated transmissions, valve covers, and other engine parts with great results. Your console would be a piece of cake. IF powder coating is the Rolls Royce, then catalyzed clear coat would be a Cadillac. Either should look great and last forever. Both come off easily w/ quality paint stripper so danger is minimal.
