Clearing AE with Universal urethaine clear

I just finished wet sanding my previous AE (dust and a few insects). I will be reshooting the AE.

1. How long do I should I wait to shoot the urethaine clear?
2. How long would I need to wait to wetsand and polish the clear?

thanks
Allan

ae

shoot clear as if it was your next color coat, same flash time. but be sure to read your can instructions or get data sheet. i dont know what brand u r using. i would let it get just about dry to the touch but still a little sticky not stringy just enuf 2 leave finger print. u want to be able 2 lightly drag your finger across paint without pulling or ripping.do it on taped area not pannel. wet sand & buff next day. but get that data sheet your ae could tell u different

I was told by a good source that it's better to wait overnight when
clearing single stage colors.
Single stage colors off gass a long time.
When I cleared my car, that I used a metallic urethane on,
I found if I didn't wait a good 3 hrs, sometimes the metallic would
be disturbed by the clear and make the color look different,
looking like stripes.
Waiting longer, up to 24 hrs is best.
