Clutch/Flywheel Recommendation?
I have a 383 SBC that will be pushing roughly 550-575HP at the crank, and am in need of a clutch. I am somewhat uninformed in this area, and I could use some recommendations on what kind of clutch/flywheel setup I should run.
I have done a bit of research, and have come to the conclusion for the type of driving I will be doing, a billet steel flywheel (~15-20lbs) or an aluminum will fit my needs. I have also been recommended to use a Centerforce clutch. Which clutch should I run from them? Which one will survive 550 HP? Should I go with a Centerforce flywheel as well? What works for you? Since my 383 is internally balanced, should I be looking at pressure plates that are NOT counterweight assisted?
This will not be a daily driver. It will be driven mostly on weekends, and may see the track once everything is finished and ready. When it is driven, I plan on spinning it to around 6,500 - 7,000 RPM's and shifting somewhere around there. The tranny is a Borg Warner Super T-10, and it's a gen. 1 SBC with a 2-piece rear main.
Thanks.
