Coating of Cast Iron exhaust manifolds, anybody done this?

I have existing cast iron exhaust manifolds that I know to fit, they are on the car now. I would like to have them coated with silver ceramic coating such as..."Jet-Hot" or equivalent.

Has anybody done this? How did they turn out?

Do they chemicaly strip the old rust and dirt off the inside and outside then coat? Did you have to do any prep work yourshelf (grinding, rust removal, sanding, ect...,) before sending them in?

Any input is appreciated, this is on a big block Chevy motor running 1972 Impala exhaust manifolds

Thanks in advance, Tom

Before sending them off I would remove any casting flash on the manifolds with a die-grinder. At Jet-Hot there is a multi-step process including: thermal degreasing, abrasive-blast stripping with virgin aluminum oxide, double-coating (inside and out), high temperature curing, custom packaging for return shipping, and quality-assurance controls during every phase of the procedure.

Anyone ever use this stuff? the manufacture says it is the same stuff the pros use. It says it is good to 2000 degrees. The price for the material is much cheaper than sending parts out.

I also want to do my SBC Rams horn manifolds. I have heard and seen some people use the eastwood silver paint. It looks good when new but not sure about life span.

I had Jet-Hot do mine....about 2 or 3 years ago.
They look as good today as the day I took them out of the box.

Like already said......clean the casting flash....I sandblasted mine.....inside and out...

It really helped with the under-hood temperatures.
