ck the resistance of the coil..
if the coil has zero resist the u should use a ballast resistor. i used a reg chebby coil on my pertronix for yrs no problem.. changed to one of those super coils and didn't take a reading.. didn't take long to smoke test the pertronix... put in the old coil and replaced with mallory pointless... they had them at autozone. that was about 2 yrs ago..
