Here's another question for you guys with the know how, What do you recommend in regards to having new heavier coil springs made for my 55 Ford hot rod. I've got a beautiful 73 Lincoln continental 2 door hardtop that I hate to part out but might if I can't find a buyer for around $1500, that has a great running 460 and C6. Since the 460 is a bit heavier than the stock V8 was, I have spoken to a local spring company about having new coils made that are heavier and carry more weight. I also thought I'd have them made about an inch shorter to give me a bit more drop along with the planned Granada spindles. They are quoting me $250 bucks for a pair of them. I can buy NOS Ford stock springs for $179/ pr. :confused: but am not sure they would adequately handle the load of the roughly 800lb. engine. What is your recommendation for something like this?
Have you checked to see what a 272/292/312 Y-block weighs?? Surely the 800lbs you're speaking of includes the transmission as well, doesn't it?
