Post Cold weather painting

Alright my car is in a unheated garage.I'm doing the engine bay to make room for the new motor that will be going in.Now I wanna rattle can the radiator support inner fenders and firewall. Now more than likely I'tll be cold(winter time)when I do this.So any advise to avoid the "Cracklin' finish" look.
I'm thinkin keep the paint warm in the the winter driver with the heat on,till the minute I'm ready to spray???

The surface and drying temp has alot to do with it too. If you spray the paint below 65 degrees it will most likely cloud up on you. Get a small space heater if the storage garagagagage has electrical oulet. turn it on let it warm up around the area and when you go to paint shut off the heater, spray, let the fumes dissapate and turn the heater back on for a bit untill its dry. If thats not an option then more than likely if the temps below 60 the paint will cloud no matter how much you warm the can. Also warming the can and paint inside with running warm water works pretty good on those chilly spring days were than can has been in storage and its cold. Drying temp is the deciding factor though. Around here you can't spray anything after 65 because dew point is usually right below as well as the clouding paint

I sprayed a beat stratocaster out side in the winter once and it cracked all to hell and clouded.Looked worse than befor. That is one idea I'll see if I can snag a space heater.I can't run a Kerosene heater cause the smell with really screw my lungs, but a little electric around were I'm gonna spray will work.

Definatly, go to wally world or almost anywhere and get a milkhouse heater. Its a steel gray cased electric heater, its just a big box with a handle at the top and exspanded metal screen and two hanger on the front, they are great. I've had the same one for about 10 years and its a great little heater. you can beat them all to hell and they still keep on throwin the heat.

Well figured I'd let ya know.I went looking for a heater, which didn't happen.Sunday I used the "Oh F#@% It!!" approach and just sprayed it.Went back today with squinty eyes and it looked good.No fog or chaffing.Could be that I stepped up from my usual .88 a can to premium 1.40 a can Ace hardware paint. Either way I'm happy I have enough paint left to vandilize something

Oddly enough the attitude when sprayed helps. I found out early on that the only way I could lay down a good paint job while I was in a booth with windows was to get highly pissed off and scream and beetch and moan while I was doing it, my bud enjoyed it. I'd get in the sucky paint booth with my $23 radio that was about 15% bigger then when I bought it, with about every color under the rainbow on it and turn it up as loud as it went and paint. My bud that worked next to the paintbooth was usually laughing his ars off when I get out to get some air between applications, but it worked. Happy it worked out for you monte
