cold weather start and go

a freind of mine and i were talking and the topic came up about starting your car and putting it right in drive and going without warming it up in cold weather im in new york and it's been in the 20's and the oil being used is 10w40 and he does not think he has to warm it up maybe im wrong but i was alway told to warm the car up to get the oil flowing.

anyone??

Give it at least 15 seconds to get the oil moving.
