Color sanding 2k clear
Ok, here goes. My bumper problem is ongoing, so I am going to remove the bumper, strip it completely and respray it off the car. I did get the car based and cleared, and everything is good aside from some very slight orange peel here and there and a few MONSTER runs.
What do you guys suggest for hand sanding (I am afraid of burning through the clear if I use a buffer and I am tired of this headache of a project) in regard to taking out runs? Start with 1500, move to 2000 and then polishing compound? Any suggestions? You have no idea how much I appreciate your input. |

This stone block by Meguiars works so much better on runs than sandpaper.
It's rock hard and flat. You can wet sand the run without hitting the surrounding clear because it's so hard and doesn't flex. I use a 1000 grit block, it's the quickest and easiest way I've found. After that I sand with 1500 or 2000 paper to rid the scratches from the block. My runs disappear completely now http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-un...ding-block.html |

I picked one up and gave it a shot. I thought I was going to have to repaint my rear hatch, but I was able to take all of the runs out with this little thing. Made the job much quicker and easier.
Now I just have a few runs here and there to take out and I should be in good shape! |

Question: How have you guys heard Meguiars pronounced? I heard a guy on the radio the other day say Megears.

That is the way I have always herd it pronounced, when I heard Megears I went "what is he talking about". I almost called the radio station, but I only heard the commercial once, they must have pulled it real quick.

Another method i use at work is to take a brand new razor blade and sort of drag it along the run to level it with the rest of the clear. Wet sand with 1500 to feather the peel out then 3000 on a DA before buffing. Our painter sucks so i get alot of practice.

Another useful tip I figured out on my own; instead of using a spray bottle, grab an old HVLP gun, ~10psi, closed fan, open fluid. Now I use the bottles to hold my warm refill water and my pointer finger loves me for it
