column removal

Hello again. I tried to remove the column in my 64 comet. I usally remove coulmns at the streeing dampner because thats where it bolts together. But my comet dosen't have a dampner. Is it some kind of slip joint or what? I 've tried a lot. Thanks for your help

G'day from Australia

Re your steering column - you will most likely find that it has a single piece column and gear and must be removed from the car as a unit. Remove the pitman arm from the box and the steering wheel first.
To disassemble it you need to take the top off the box and then remove the pitman shaft, next takeoff the adjusting nut and lock remove them and slide the column out from the bottom. Up the top end there may be a circlip retaining an upper bush or bearing. This info is generic but should get you on the right track.
