combustion chamber size on stock 283

I have researched the site and the web, but still have a question. What was the stock cc for 283 combustion chambers? My heads are casting #3748772

World Torquer 305's are 58 cc and the regular torquers are 64 cc.

My engine has stock internals, so if I go too big on the chamber volume, I loose compression and if I go too small on the volume I gain compression. (Am I correct in my thinking?)

I know that there are a lot of 283 jockeys out here, and know they have a better knowledge than I do. Thanks again.

Most 283 heads had 60cc chambers. you could have the torquers milled down to this same size, or you could run the 305 torquers, which are better suited for small cubic inch engines.

Thanks DoubleVision. The 305's are probably the way I will go. I just need to research cams a little more, and I'll have a winter project now that the snows have returned.
