Comp Cams 268HE

Anyone use the 268HE cam .454 / .454 lift in a 350 sbc?

I have one in a 355 with 9:1cr with camel hump heads, performer intake and 1.5 roller rockers.

I have a very smooth idle at 650-700 rpm with 16 degrees initial idle.

Anyone have this cam? comp says choppy idle...ha ha

I've used that cam in several 350 builds. Needs 9.5:1 SCR to operate properly.

Thanks for reply. I just spoke to motor guy car is 9.3:1. It runs great and pulls super hard to 5500 rpm. Car has a 2000 still and 3.73 gears.

I am just curious why comp says choppy idle and its very smooth.

You most likely have it tuned well with proper timing, i wouldn't worry about it too much.

it is tuned by a professional with a wideband. So yes it runs fantastic. Before it was tuned by him the timing was off and stuff and it had more lope to it. I was just curious why they say choppy and its totally not ha ha

Lopy/choppy same difference, you said it did have a lope before it was tuned well, so there you go, all i need to do with my mild cam is lower the idle & fatten up the idle & it'll be choppy, but the plugs don't like it.

I could find lumpy in those cams by turning down the idle, but I certainly wouldn't describe them as choppy. It's not the first mistake I've seen in info from CompCams. If you want a little more from the motor, advance the cam 4 degrees. It will make more cylinder pressure.
