Comp Cams belt drive / damper fitment

I have a SBC (Dart SHP) engine that I'm putting a Comp Cams 6500 belt drive on. (It's similar to the Jesel belt drive.) My Pro Products 90002 damper doesn't fit. The outer ring hits the top pulley bolts and center washer. I'd have to trim far too much off the bolts to get it to fit.

I called Pro Products and they say all their dampers have the same offset.

I called Comp Cams and they said "There is nothing abnormal about our belt drive that will require a special damper, any everything should work."

I just need a damper (preferably 8") whose outer ring is about .200" further forward of the block face.

I see that ATI has a SBC damper that supposed to fit the Jesel belt drive. That may fit my Comp Cams belt drive. Of course it's $421!

Any idea which dampers would fit?

There doesn't seem to be much protruding but the image may be deceiving.

The damper itself shouldn't have to be turned down, what about a different belt drive- or is this one bought and nonreturnable?

How about changing the fasteners for low-profile button-heads. Be enough?

The damper you are using has a reputation for coming apart even though it is SFI approved. There are several threads about this over on the engine builders and Pro machinist SpeedTalk forums.
Some have had them come apart after only a few minutes of moderate RPM(5000), and I've noticed instances on other forums .

That sounds like the makings of an awful nice motor you are putting that chinese balancer on. BHJ, ProRace, Powerbond, Romac, Summit House brand would all be much better choices if ATI is too expensive for you(but you bought a $1500 block you are willing to risk)
