Comp Cams Thumpr Cam

I know there has been alot of talk about comp cams new thumpr cam shaft and how it's just a show car cam and just for sound. The truth is it's actually a great sounding cam with awesome performance. You can check out http://www.compcams.com/thumpr/default.asp and http://www.zz4.com and cleary see it's not just a show car cam. You could even call comp cams and they will tell you. I recently bought a mutha thumpr cam for my 427 bbc and we finally got everything fired up today and it has a very wicked idle and best of all it runs very well on the street. As long as your timing is set up properly and you have the correct valvetrain componets it will throw you back in your seat. I had my doubts when I bought it even after talking to comp cams but now I absolutely love it. It doesn't affect performance or streetability at all.

Nope I am not trying to advertise there is just alot of controvery surrounding this cam and a lot of people think it's just a show car cam. I work for anthem blue cross and blue shield as a claims adjuster (if your claim didn't pay it's not my fault) not comp cams. I wish I did though haha. I just put the links up for anyone who wanted to check it out. I am basing what I am saying off of how my personal car responded to it.

What are the specs on your motor? How's the response when you try to pass a car?

Response to pass a car is very good actually. I could have went with a bigger cam or bigger heads but this is 99% a street car so I wanted to do low to mid range power and this did well with my intake. If I got a bigger cam I may have stepped it up to a victor jr intake.

1970 Pro Street Nova 10.5:1 comp ratio, 280cc trick flow aluminum heads, Comp cams hydraulic thumper cam shaft 287-305 Adv/Duration 2000-5900 RPM Range Lift:.510 Intake/.495 Exhaust, hydraulic magnum lifters, magnum push rods, Headman Headers 1-3/4" tubes and 3" collector, 4- speed Muncie transmission with a 4:11 gear, a Quick Fuel Q Series 750 cfm carburetor, and an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap dual plane Intake 1500-6500rpm with a 1" spacer. Full MSD Ingition system and I also have a 250 cheater shot of nitrous hooked up but I have yet to use it.
