There has been internet propaganda that says Comp's cams are more likely to wipe flat because they use a softer core casting. An improperly broken-in cam would be more likely to wipe and cause noise, but I think its the whole Ford/Chevy debate. Someone installed a Comp cam, it wiped a lobe causing a tick, and the rumor started.
Many cam companies source their cams from the same foundry anyway and then just grind them to their own specs.
The point is, find the cam you want with the specs you want, and break it in properly. They will all serve you well... if you pick the right one
