competition enginnering rear shock crossbar questions

installed yesterday according to instructions.
in a 69 camaro you use the bolt hole for the rear end snubber to correctly locate the crossbar.
there are 3 holes ?
the piece fits in but the inner edges are about 3/8 away from the frame?
outter edges contact the frame.
ill snap a few pics in the near future once i get home.

They have some vague instructions. ( I went to the website.)
That multiple fit kind of stuff never fits anything just right.
They will tell you that they had to allow for dimensional variances in production, and thats why you get a 3/8" gap on the inside.. ( don't think I haven't heard that one a hundred times)

See if the shocks line up with clearance for suspension movement, if all is ok it can install there. Try to duplicate the original shock placement if you can.
Fill the gap between the crossmember and frame with with a piece of plate thick enough to close up the gap some. I like to leave a small gap to fill with my mig when I do stuff like that. It makes a nicer looking weld. Cut the center out of the plate if weight is some kind of issue.

Or just clamp it down close and weld it. That's how some guys would do it. It doesn't need to be welded all around anyway, just the ends would be fine. ( I wouldn't do it like that, I'd make my own crossmember that fit)

Later, mikey
