compression ratio on blown sbc?
I'm running a B&M 250 on a 355 sbc and have finally found some decently priced Aluminum heads (AFR 190's 74cc) and have calculated that I will end up with slightly under 8.4:1. Now I understand the aluminum heads can tolerate a little more compression before detonating etc so this would be equivalent to iron heads at 8:1 or less. I've heard some engine builders allow a full point extra compression when building aluminum head engines. My question is is this compression ratio acceptable running less than 10 lbs on 92 octane fuel?
