Compressor SCFM. When's enough?

I've had a custom gas powered compressor ( no 220v available ) project going for a while. I have a 20 gallon tank mounted onto a custom frame which can be towed with a garden tractor. I also have 2 7hp Harbor Freight engines, and 3hp twin cylinder pumps rated at 10 CFM each @ 90 PSI, so I can have 20 SCFM..

Now, procrastination has set in, but I'm probably going to media blast a friends 2 horse trailer for her this summer and then paint it, so I need it operational..

Looking thru my April flyers, the 11hp engine is $249 now but it would be enough to run the 5hp sized pump rated at 15.2 SCFM @90, and the pumps on sale too..

Now, I'm thinking I can stay with what I've got, for 20 CFM, buy another setup with the 11hp/5hp pump and run a single pump setup for 15.2 CFM, or I can go hog wild, and buy a new 11hp engine and 5hp pump, and mount one of my 7hp/ 3hp pumps for a total of 25 CFM @ 90 PSI..

I have a continuous run unloader valve and everything needed to make it safe.. Which direction should I go? Obviously a single engine will burn less gas.

I couldn't comfortably blast with my 7.5HP Northern 27 CFM unit. It took half an hour to do 1 sq foot, so I resorted to chemical and mechanical means...

Well, just down low on her trailer really needs blasting.. Up top is reasonably clean and I'll probably just run the DA with some 36 grit.

I guess I could really blow my money and buy 2 11hp engines and 2 5hp pumps, to make 30 SCFM which is the max that my unloader valve is rated for, but that's $1k investment in all new equipment for 5 SCFM
