I recently bought a 283 crank, 2nd stage 327 rods, and 302 standard bore piston rotating assembly for an old time build, that was never used. I was planning on using a small journal 327 block, but can't seem to find one that does't need an overbore. I thought about a 350 block using the MS110H spacer bearing set, the small journal into a medium journal block setup, but those bearings are $$$ and hard to find, except on E-Bay. But, that part number is used for "other" than the reason I'm looking at them. And there's a BIG spread in the price, so I would like to do this cheaper if possible. Anyone know the reason why the part number comes up differently? And I know, just build a 350, but this is just to be different. Small, light car, 4-speed, 4.88 gears, just for "local cruising", and a step back into time. junior stocker.
Bearing spacers are a thing of the past these days. The major bearing manufactures all have bearing to suit your needs. Because they aren't used very often though the price is quite high and that nets you something real close to or the price of an aftermarket crank like Scat or Eagle or Ohio and others.
Yes, that I am aware of. If you do an E-Bay search of MS1110H bearings, you will see what I mean about the cost difference and application differences. That's what has me wondering. Some are listing the bearings as an application for any garden variety 305-350, and some as conversion bearings. I don't think I'd even consider using a spacer along with a bearing. My machinist no longer even gets involved in the "older stuff", so that's why I came here. Anyone else. Thanks, junior stocker.
It's a nomenclature thing. Most descriptions are layered in laymen's terms to satisfy the average buyer just browsing for parts. A more exacting way of thinking about it is by part number and dimensions. Flea Bay isn't very good about fact checking so be careful.
