Connecting rod letters?

I'm rebuilding a 4.3 for my 88 Blazer. The rods have the letters j, k, l, c, e, g. stamped on them. The machinist did not # the pistons at all. Am I to assume these slugs can go in any hole with the notch pointing forward? I'm new to chevy's, please help me.

MOST Chevy pistons have an off-set pin.. The proper way to install them in older 4.3 is the same as a small block. Piston notch forward. Rod bearing tangs to the outside (pan rail) on that cylinder.

If you install them otherwise you may create a piston knock problem on cold starts.
