Connecting Rods
what do you guys think about putting a 5.7 rod in a 406 sb vs. the 5.565 rod?

Its a very common modification for the 400. You will have to clip the heads on the rod bolts that face inward toward the camshaft, because the rods and bolts in a 350 rod are longer in that section of the rod, than a 400. Of course the OAL(overall length) is longer as well, as you know, and pistons with a compression height to match the longer rod is also required.
