Consew 206RB5 Problem

Hi, I just bought a used Consew 206RB5 and it sew's fine except one problem I can't figure out. When using heavy 138 or 207 polyester thread and a 23 needle, most of the time, but not always, after running a stitch the work won't pull away from the bobbin thread. After cutting it loose, I find a 4 inch or so piece of thread tangled in the hook. After advancing the machine slightly, it pulls out and the bobbin and needle thread are fine and you can go again.

I tried 69 nylon thread with a 16 needle and it does not happen. Even when it does this the stitches look fine it just makes pulling the work free a problem.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks

Have you oiled this machine and cleaned out the bobbin case?

Yes I oiled it before I used it and put a new bobbin case in it. I am thinking it may be a bobbin tension problem. I'll try that today and let you know. Thanks for the reply.

Size 207 thread is at the upper limit of what your machine can sew with. You should go very slow when you sew with it.

When you finish sewing and want to remove the work, you need to lift the foot up to its highest point, either with the knee lift or with the lever on the back of the machine. This releases the two upper tension disks which releases the top thread from the upper tension. After you do that, sometimes with any size thread, you may need to advance the hook with the hand wheel slightly by pulling it back toward you, as you pull the work out, to release the thread. As you pull the hand wheel back, you will feel the thread come loose.

Dan, you were exactly right. I figured it out today by trial and error. As you may guess, I am new to this and want to learn but don't have a clue what I am doing. I'll post some photos tomorrow of the machine I bought and the weird set-up I have done with it. Everyone can have a good laugh and tell me to get the hell outta here.

Thank you.
