Considering 1.6 rockers

I plan on getting some Comp Cams roller tipped rockers to replace the stamped OEM rockers on my Fastburn 350/385hp crate engine. What I am toying with is whether to go with 1.52 or 1.6 ratio rockers. I know the optional cam and kit that GMPP offers for this engine comes with 1.6 rockers for a total hp increase to 430. The engine is going to be almost entirely street driven with an occasional blast (without the wife of course). Would it be worth the effort to go to 1.6 rockers with the supplied camshaft vs the 1.52 rockers? Any negatives associated with the 1.6 rockers on this engine?

If the valves will stand the lift, it is generally a good idea to increase the rocker ratio for increased lift and effective duration.

Carefuly check the geometry and see if you need new pushrods also. If you do, step up to stiffer pushrods while you are at it.

A couple of years ago, Kevin McClelland said in his Chevy High Performance Magazine Q & A column that he was involved in designing the ZZ4 cam, and that it didn't work well with 1.6 rockers for some reason. IIRC, the problem was one of reliability, not performance.

I suggest just going ahead and buying the entire " Hot Cam package " from GM ... and go on to the 430 Horsepower level ...

But of Course ... I am biased cause I have two of them ...

The " Hot Cam kit comes with GM 1.6 roller rockers and I have been told they are the same as the ones GM installed on certain production line Corvette engines from the factory ... I have had no issues with the #430 engine ... and the #216 just came out of the crate ...

The entire " Hot Cam " package is only about $550 or so ... and the 1.6 rockers are full rollers ...
